My mom is a resident in the Heritage Green memory care community. She has been a resident in Heritage Green since September 2025, and I am immensely happy with the products and services provided since day one. My five-star rating is for the entire Heritage Green team (i.e., Receptionists, Resident Aids, Medical Technicians, Housekeeping, Building Maintenance, Food Services, Administration, Art and Hobby Facilitators, and Management).
Outside of my family and me, my mom could not be in better hands because the Heritage Green staff provide excellent care, and the staff respect my mom as well as the other residents.
At home, my mom would be awake for 72 hours (day/night), and she was agitated the entire time. She would sleep approximately 20 minutes, and then she would be awake for another 72 hours. As the dementia worsened, my mom became paranoid, verbally aggressive, and she would daily rearrange all of the heavy furniture in the living room. My mom is calmer and has less agitation now. This is result of the Heritage Green staff meeting her where she is in her dementia journey as well as giving her a sense of purpose with activities during the week, and weekends, when she participates. I am very protective of my mom, and I would only allow an empathetic, credentialed, and professional team to care for her. The entire community has beautiful, friendly energy.
Heritage Green has my highest recommendation!
Heritage Green has a very friendly group of employees. I have been there as a visitor and had their food on several occasions and it was excellent. I have visited residents and found their rooms were very clean and neat.
I had breakfast with my mom today at Heritage Green… the food was every bit as good as the Denny’s “Grand-Slam” at least I think so. People are so caring. My dad just passed away, and people are super supportive of my mom as she gets used to letting go. I appreciate their TLC!
I can only say great things about Heritage Green Assisted Living. Dad was on there for memory care while mom was only needing assisted living. They took great care of both of my parents who were there for an extended time. My three siblings and I were extremely pleased!
It was time for my parents to have more support and thus the search began for a good fit for an assisted living community. While I doubt that the transition from home to AL is ever easy, the staff at HG worked so hard to help my parents feel welcome and at home very quickly. My father in particular was reticent about moving, but within a month he was singing the praises of the place. He gets therapy nearly every day so his range of motion has improved, he is walking better and he is happy. My sister and I are kept in the loop with challenges that mom and daddy may be experiencing and we just feel like our beloved parents are in very good hands. If they could make the voice mail system easier to navigate that’d be great, but if that is my biggest complaint, they are doing great!
My mother stayed at Heritage Green for 2 weeks, giving us respite. She enjoyed the friendly and caring staff, the outings for ice cream, and the food. She said she will go back to visit when we plan our next vacation!
Navigating the process of finding an assisted living facility for a family member, particularly with specialized memory care services, was daunting. My husband and I weren’t sure where to even begin. We lucked out by first choosing to tour Heritage Green. Although there is not a current spot available, Shelly took the time to sit with us and provide invaluable guidance for interim care. This facility isn’t like anything we had pictured – the residents seem to truly be living as and treated as whole people, there are tons of activities, it is homey, there were family members visiting freely and so many beautiful spaces for residents, the staff seemed happy to be there – it just felt authentically joyful. They even have a space set up for a regular dog friend who visits! We are currently in contact (communication has been amazing) and crossing our fingers for a spot soon. This is honestly the first time during a very difficult few years that we have felt this optimistic about the potential quality of life ahead for him. Incredibly grateful for the guidance thus far, which Shelly really did not have to procide, and hopeful our family member can become a part of this community very soon.
From the moment I walked in and was greeted by Kim at the desk, I knew that is where I wanted to bring my mom. Shelly the marketing director was so helpful and understanding to my mom's needs. All the staff were kind and compassionate. Wren the activities director was so caring. He brought smiles to everyone he met. Jem the health director set high standards for her nurses and med techs. Elizabeth the NP was top notch. Best assisted living facility in Mechanicsville.
My mother has been a resident of Heritage Green Assisted Living for almost 2 weeks. So far everyone has been very friendly and welcoming. The meals she is being served are awesome. There has been entertainment just about everyday since she has been there, which has made this transition easier for her. Her bed is made and the bedroom, bathroom and facilities are very clean. The nursing staff has gone above and beyond to make her feel welcome and make sure her needs have been met. I am very happy with the decision we have made as a family to move her to Heritage Green.
